The Smoky Hills Cabin is a home orginally built by Ray Richards for his wife of 40+ years, Martha, and their four children. Ray worked as a farmer, rancher, plumber, served as the Chief of the Sylvan Grove Volunteer Fire Department and Deputy County Sheriff. Ray and Martha were avid fishermen and loved hunting pheasant and quail with their Golden Retriever "Lady".
The Richards Family has a long tradition of family hunting and fishing. Some of the fondest family memories are gatherings at the cabin, (back then was Grandpa and Grandma's house). During the fall months we hunted pheasant, dove and quail and in the summer there was LOTS of fishing trips to Wilson Lake (see map). Below are some pictures of the family.
