Our family cabin (the Richards family) provides afforable, "rustic" lodging that gives hunters and fisherman quick access to 82,000+ acres of Walk-In-Hunt Land (WIHA) and state wildlife areas in the Region 1 hunting areas Russell, Lincoln, Ottowa and Mitchell counties.
Region 1 is the northwest/northcentral one-fourth of Kansas including 27 counties. This region is diverse from east to west with some of the largest and best wildlife areas in the state. With eight federal reservoirs and associated wildlife areas to the natural salt marshes at Jamestown, this mostly rural part of Kansas is a great place for hunters, anglers and wildlife enthusiasts. The mosaic of prairie, woodland corridors and farmland makes Region 1 ideal for pheasants, deer, and Rio Grande Turkeys. Good opportunities for success on these wildlife areas exist for waterfowl, archery deer and fall turkey hunting. Deer and pheasant populations are great but have considerable pressure early in the seasons. The most outstanding opportunities are present for the youth seasons for deer, waterfowl, upland and turkeys. Region1 also hosts the majority of the Special Hunt Draw program that enables a few hunters to take advantage of quality opportunities on an equal basis without paying high lease or hunt fees. Many of these hunts are targeted for Mentor/Novice hunts.
The cabin sleeps 7 but we have had as many as a dozen hunters. We do NOT provide sheets, pillows or blankets for the futons or towels for showering. We are not a guide service or outfitter. Please bring your own sleeping bags, sheets, pillows, blankets, towels and soap.
Cabin Rental Prices - $20 per person/per night ; Group rates: 4+ hunters = $200 for a weekend/2 days, $400 for a week. A $100.00 cash non-refundable deposit is required. Private land availale with a fee.

The cabin is located in Sylvan Grove, KS., in the Smoky Hills Region and Post Rock Country of North Central Kansas in Lincoln County. It has 3 bedrooms, a single bath, sleeps 4+ (futons), has a full kitchen for cooking meals, gas stove, refrigerator/freezer, dining and living room area, wood stove, new furnace, parking for 2 RVs with water hook-up (no electrical, yet), with a mud room for dog kennels. Driving Directionsto the cabin at 128 S. Illinios Ave,Sylvan Grove, KS. - takeI-135 N from Wichita 88 miles then take I-70 W for 40 miles, (NOTE: If you are flying into Kansas City just take I-70 west to Salina), then, take exit 209 head N on 6th st. (turns into 60th) road for 9 miles. When entering Sylvan Grove on Main St. go RT on E. 1st st., then RT on S. Illinios Ave heading S. The cabin is the last house on the RT hand side across from the grain silos (green house with white trim).
